When the NBA All-Star Game Draft had taken place earlier this week, the Milwaukee Bucks’ superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo had shown a lot of confidence in his starting lineup. With LeBron James, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, and Stephen Curry, he knew that they would be unbeatable. Who knew his prediction would come out true? In fact, the Greek Freak even ended up winning the All-Star MVP Award and dedicated it to someone special.

Honored to win an award named after Kobe Bryant

First of all, the Lakers’ star LeBron James, who didn’t want the All-Star game in the first place, ended up winning against Team Durant. Also, his team didn’t even need their captain for the second half of the game. Bron was sitting on the sidelines while the rest of the players wreaked havoc.

While each and every player of his team should be applauded for their game, nobody did it better than Giannis Antetokounmpo. Not only did he finish the night with 35 points and 7 rebounds, but he also went a flawless 16-of-16 from the field. How could he have not won the All-Star MVP award after this?

After Kobe Bryant passing away last year in a terrible helicopter crash, along with his daughter Gianna, the league had decided to name the MVP All-Star award after him in his honor. And now, Giannis couldn’t be happier.

As per Rachel Nichols, Giannis stated, “Having an award named after Kobe Bryant in my house is a great feeling…I know he would be happy.”

Giannis dedicates it to his son

Well, the fact that Liam was involved in his father’s warm-up is what probably brought all the good luck.

After the game, Giannis said, “I can’t believe my son… This is the first time he has come to watch me play in an All-Star Game and this is for him. It’s just fun to have family around.”

The 26-year-old is now a 5-time All-Star, four-time All-NBA, 2-time NBA MVP, and now his first All-Star MVP.
