When the world looks at the life of Dennis Rodman, they see a riot of colors, pretty similar to his dynamic apparels and fashion choices. His personality is really difficult to comprehend. His playstyle and behavior can be unpredictable at times, making him one of the NBA’s most adored and controversial celebrity figures simultaneously. Sometimes his teammates found Rodman to be complicated figure.

Rodman played in 911 games over 14 NBA seasons, scoring 6,683 points and grabbing 11,954 rebounds in his career. As a result, he is regarded as one of the most accomplished players of his generation. He began his NBA career with the Detroit Pistons in 1986. There he won two NBA championships before being traded to the San Antonio Spurs in 1993. In Spurs, he met with one of the best of his time David Robinson. And their on-court chemistry and dominance were incredible. But at the same time, their off-court relationship was questionable.

David Robinson admits Dennis Rodman was ‘destructive’ to the team’s perspective

Back in 2020, Robinson spoke about Rodman’s time with the Spurs. He thought that Rodman was a destructive influence from a team perspective. Rodman’s habit of being late or missing several training sessions is well-known across the NBA world. The 10-time All-Star recalled his habits and said, “But man — as far as a team goes — he was so destructive to a team perspective because he’d show up to practice late and there was nothing you could do to make him get out of his comfort zone.”

Robinson even said that Rodman is an easy guy to like because he had a good heart and shared his quality to play hard. At the end of the day, he wanted to do the right thing. Rodman once turned down the role of team leader for the Spurs’ young squad. The explanation is evident: sometimes Rodman would come to the locker room and not talk to anyone for extended periods of time.

Subsequently, Rodman was traded to the Chicago Bulls in 1995, and the rest is history. And he became a crucial part of the Bulls’ second three-peat campaign.
