The art of shooting has become one of the most prized skills in basketball. A revolution started off by Stephen Curry has arguably transcended all spheres of the game. Likewise, the Golden State Warriors superstar arguably sits on top of the throne. However, his partner, Klay Thompson is quite the shooting ace himself.
The era of the Splash Brothers was possible due to Thompson emerging as a near equal to Stephen Curry. Winning four championships as a duo, they arguably led the dynasty. The three-point record books are painted with their names. Notably, Klay Thompson once went ballistic, shattering the record for most threes in a single game, draining 14. Likewise, he has arguably earned the title of the second-best shooter of all time.

However, the recent 2K ratings touched a nerve in Thompson. The five-time All-Star was furious as his three-point rating was drastically below Stephen Curry. However, NBA fans were quick to give him a reality check.
Klay Thompson is way below Stephen Curry on the 2k ratings
With NBA 2K23 being the most anticipated basketball game to come, they released the top five shooters in the game. Unsurprisingly, the reigning Finals MVP got a near-perfect rating of 99 to lead all players. Thompson and three others came in second with the same rating. However, the dip was massive. An 88 rating left the Golden State Warriors shooting guard hot. Likewise, he publically called out the gaming giants for the disrespect he felt.

But he was in for a horror show from fans. Reacting to Thompson’s furious reaction, they grilled him for taking offense to his new rating. Mainly, the blame came from his recent showing in the NBA playoffs.
After coming back from back-to-back injuries, Klay Thompson quickly resumed his role on the Warriors line-up. However, with rust in his shooting form, the former three-point contest winner wasn’t nearly at his best. Averaging 17 points in six games, Thompson shot just 35% from downtown. With 2K judging the ratings on current form, fans felt Thompson’s rating was on the money.

While arguments can be made on either end, nothing takes away from the impact both Thompson and Stephen Curry have had. The Splash Brothers arguably changed the game by creating an offense with pure shooting. As the right-hand man to Curry in most cases, Thompson ranks just behind him in playoff three-pointers made. Even former US President Barack Obama fell in love with his shooting, calling his form prettier than Steph Curry’s.
