Michael Jordan and his first love
During the interview, Deloris told Cox that baseball is what turned Michael Jordan into an NBA star. Michael in his younger days started playing in the Little league of baseball with his brother when they were four and five.?
Deloris said, ?When I look at the golden rules again, let’s go back to baseball. Because, again, when you read about Michael in his younger days of he and his brother, they started in Little League when they were four and five. So baseball was his first love. He really did not focus on basketball, as you well know, until his junior and senior year in high school.?
For those of you who have seen the docuseries The Last Dance or followed Jordan?s career, he did in fact try out for baseball. After his first retirement in 1993, Jordan went on to play baseball in the minor league with the Birmingham Barons.
However, Jordan was not as successful at baseball as he was at basketball. While talking to Cox, Deloris said, ?And so we all know again that he did not excel as what his expectation was in baseball, but he wanted to share again even not being one of the outstanding baseball players – he didn’t win trophies, or awards, or a championship game -he walked though as a winner.?
