The Los Angeles Lakers are on a three-game winning streak after taking down the San Antonio Spurs in their last match. And a lot of the credit goes to the team’s star power forward, Anthony Davis. The eight-time All-Star has taken over the team’s scoring in the absence of LeBron James and ‘The King’ was all praises for him. Fans, however, did not seem too impressed with Davis’ performance in the absence of James.

The team’s leading scorer has been sidelined due to an injury for the past couple of games. But that does not seem to be a problem for the Lakers.

Fans trolling LeBron James for his comments

Since the James injury, the team has won three out of its four games. And Anthony Davis has kicked into high gear, leading the team in scoring. The King had some positive feedback on Davis’ performance.

Davis said, “We haven’t talked about it, but he did say that I’m playing like my old self, so I’m trying to get back into that rhythm,” when asked about what feedback James had for him.

Fans, on the other hand, decided to slam James over his honest admission about his star teammate. One fan tweeted, “Not really he played against horrible teams.” While another fan commented, “Yeah of course because you LeBron ain’t holding the ball and being the ball stopper you become.”

Here are some more reactions from Twitter.

Whether Davis has been playing like his old self or not, he has surely been on a roll.

Should Davis take over the offense?

After his monstrous performance in the last three games, Davis became the first player in 20 years to have three straight games with 30+ points, and 15+ rebounds on 60% shooting from the field.

The last player to accomplish that feat was Lakers legend, Shaquille O’Neal. Since the injury to James, Davis has been leading the team in scoring and rebounding. Davis usually became the second option on offense when James was on the floor.

But looks like the Lakers are much better off with the offense revolving around Davis. LeBron James is in the twilight years of his career. He will be turning 38 next month and with injuries catching up to him, it makes sense for Davis to be the team’s first option on offense.

Let’s see if this trend continues after James returns from his injury to join the Los Angeles Lakers lineup.
