The Phoenix Suns clinched a much-needed victory in Game 3 against the Denver Nuggets. Displays by Devin Booker and Kevin Durant helped the Suns redeem themselves as their home crowd watched. Devin Booker ran riot with 47 points, nine assists and six rebounds. Kevin Durant pitched in with another 39 points, eight assists and nine rebounds.

Helping the Suns win with a combined 86 points, the duo sure earned their stripes, receiving massive praise from an NFL veteran. The NBA world, however, became divided upon the 3x-Super Bowl champion’s adulation.

Devin Booker and Kevin Durant surprised NFL legend Shannon Sharpe with their stellar show. Sharpe apparently took a moment to register their shockingly effective gameplay.

As an analyst, Shannon Sharpe never misses an opportunity to comment on interesting episodes from the NBA. Sharpe has been chiming in with his takes on the Phoenix Suns ever since their first-round matchup against the Clippers. After the Suns were vanquished in Game 2 by the Nuggets, the veteran athlete had remarked that the ‘suns are about to set.’ However, the Denver Broncos icon now seems to have revised his opinion of the Phoenix side.

Prior to Game 3, Shannon Sharpe said in an episode of Undisputed that Kevin Durant and Devin Booker had to jointly score more than 60 or even 70 points to hold their ground against the Nuggets. The duo went on to net 86 points, way more than what Sharpe had asked for. Surprised at the display, the NFL icon took to twitter and said, “Thought it would take at least 80pts btw KD/Book for Suns to win. They went and got 86 for hard fought and necessary win.”

Sharpe’s words, however, were not received well by some fans from the NBA world.

Shannon Sharpe elicits a mixed response from NBA fans

Shannon Sharpe has turned NBA fans’ heads by calling out Kevin Durant on several occasions. Besides, Sharpe had earlier opined that KD and Booker needed to score around 70 points in Game 3, but in his tweet, he wrote that he had thought it would take 80 points between the two for the Suns to win. On the back of these claims, fans questioned the NFL icon’s objectivity.

“UNC tune changed after meeting KD …he not objective anymore,” a fan said.

One user mercilessly called Sharpe out.

Another hoops buff sought to expose Sharpe’s contradictions.

One fan complained about Sharpe’s show, Undisputed.

However, not all fans disagreed with the 3x-Super Bowl champion.
