At college level, Shaquille O’Neal played for Louisiana State University (LSU). Despite becoming a phenomenon in basketball, O’Neal has not forgotten his time at LSU. In high school, no one matched O’Neal’s gameplay. However, once he entered the gates of LSU, a couple of players managed to give O’Neal a taste of his own medicine. One of them was Stanley Roberts. While talking about Roberts, O’Neal once said, “This is the man that taught me everything.” He strongly believes that it is now his time to show his gratitude and help Stanley.

Stanley Roberts spent 8 years in the NBA. However, fortunes didn’t favor him. Injuries, weight issues, and other issues hampered his career as an NBA player. Eventually, in 1999 the league banned him for violating the NBA’s drug policy. He tried his hand in a few other leagues but they were unsuccessful.
Soon, he vanished from the limelight. But he saw a helping hand in his college teammate Shaq O’Neal. A helping hand that continues to exist, even today.
Shaquille O’Neal helps out a dear friend
When Roberts had reached rock bottom, O’Neal took him out for dinner. By rock bottom, it meant he had nothing on him. During dinner, O’Neal presented Roberts with some cash. He was simply looking out for his dear friend. Roberts rejected this offer, he was adamant.
Years later, O’Neal arrived at a club in Louisiana. He was the designated DJ. Much to Stanley’s dismay, O’Neal ensured Stanley attended the event. After the show, O’Neal told Roberts that he would be buying him a truck. Roberts refused, again. But this time, O’Neal was adamant. He said, “Stan, I’m not joking with you,” and asked him to answer the phone.
