Iverson became an icon for many players and his one-on-one play was spectacular. He even gave his rookie his welcome to the NBA moment in practice, but his claim that he made the rookie cry has been refuted.

Lou Williams was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2005 NBA draft, and he was a rookie to Allen Iverson. AI was Williams’s idol, but he didn’t go easy on Lou. He would absolutely toy with him in practice so that he would get better.

Lou says he doesn’t remember crying in practice because of Allen Iverson

Lou Williams was recently on the Knuckleheads practice. He was asked who was the first person to bust his a–. Lou said, ” Sh-t, AI. The days that he did practice, I had to deal with that shit. You know what I’m saying. But that was one of the best experiences I could have had, you know, coming into the league, not just from the competitive aspect. But that was my idol, that was who I modeled my game after, somebody I looked up to.”

Iverson was a huge influence on Lou, as both players were premier 1v1 stars. Lou learned from the best and he made a career out of it. He is the NBA leader in points off the bench and he is also a three-time 6th man of the year award winner. And he credits his success to Iverson, the man who changed the league. He gave Lou nightmares in practice, which made him a better player as time went on.
