The Golden State Warriors are two games away from reaching the NBA Finals. This is after two mediocre years where they failed to make the playoffs. This was after five straight trips to the Finals with the last one being a disastrous one as they lost to the Toronto Raptors and lost Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant to long-term injuries. And Klay had to miss over 2 years because of injuries. This 2-0 lead has bought some emotional moments for the Warriors fans.
The last time the Warriors were in the playoffs, they were the favorites to repeat. They were also touted as the first team to three-peat since the Lakers. They breezed through the first round. But in the second round, Kevin Durant went down and he was out for a long time. Despite this, they went past the Houston Rockets to reach the conference finals.
Here the Portland Trail Blazers were no match, and the Warriors reached their 5th Finals. Then Klay Thompson went down and he missed a couple of games. And with the series on the line, they got back Durant but he got hurt again and was out for a year.

Then in the all-important game 6, Thompson went down again, and he tore his ACL. He missed the entire next season and when he was ready to come back; he tore his ACL again. Which led to him missing another year.
Klay only made his return in 2022 after missing more than 900 days. And now the Warriors are 2 victories away from reaching that coveted stage again.
Warriors fans get touchy-feely as they get reminded of 2019 loss after seeing Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson
An old photo of Stephen Curry and Klay has gone viral. In that, Curry is visibly distraught after he saw Klay fall in the 2019 Finals. In the first round, the Warriors took on the reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. But Denver proved they were no match for the Warriors as they got dismantled in 5 games. Next came the young and fiery Memphis Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies showed that they were here to play, and they weren’t scared of the Golden State squad. But they lost their leader Ja Morant to injury, and this had a huge impact. But still, the others showed that they can play, and they pushed the Warriors to 6 games.

The next obstacle in the way is the Dallas Mavericks. Even though they are 2 games, the Warriors will not take this team lightly. They have shown that they adjust mid-series and make drastic changes to their game plan. The Warriors are within touching distance but they will have to beat a monster of a team to reach there and Stephen Curry will need to be at his best.
