NBA legend Dennis Rodman has been one of the most controversial basketball players ever. And it reached its pinnacle when Rodman was seen singing a birthday song to Kim Jong Un the supreme leader of North Korea in a filled basketball arena. There was a huge backlash for the five-time champion back in the country. So Rodman appeared on live TV to clarify the situation alongside his veteran basketball team. He and his team clarified that they received an invitation from the Olympic committee of the DPRK to play in an exhibition game.

There were reports that the exhibition game was actually a birthday gift to Kim Jong Un. However, the team stated they were not aware of that. During the interview, an emotional Rodman added he can’t answer every question because of the team’s safety. He also stated when they are back in the U.S. he and the team would receive abuse for visiting North Korea.

However, he was not worried about it. He added that this trip could open new avenues for the two countries and open new doors. A few years later, the United States and North Korea had a historic summit as former president Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un met.

Dennis Rodman appeared live on TV and talked about the summit between the two countries. An emotional Rodman revealed he received death threats after his visit to North Korea. He claims he has had a friendly relationship with Kim Jong Un ever since his visit. Over the years, he has talked and disclosed various interesting details about the leader of North Korea. He once stated former President Barack Obama denied a peculiar request from Kim Jong Un.

“Fact is, he hasn’t bombed anywhere he’s threatened to yet. Not South Korea, not Hawaii, not … whatever. People say he’s the worst guy in the world. All I know is Kim told me he doesn’t want to go to war with America. His whole deal is to talk basketball with Obama. Unfortunately, Obama doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. I ask, Mr. President, what’s the harm in a simple phone call? This is a new age, man,” Rodman said.
