Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets have had a rocky 2022-23 season. The New York side has been unable to sink their feet in the league in any manner. Their last loss against the Boston Celtics on Sunday night pushed their record in the league to 10-12. Amidst all of this, Shaquille O?Neal shared an opinion by a Celtics great, which might be a debatable one. Rating a current Celtics star as a better player than Kevin Durant.

Paul Pierce was talking to Kevin Garnett in the KG Certified podcast when he praised Jayson Tatum. The Celtics legend compared Tatum to Durant and mentioned how the former was better.

The Boston Celtics legend sat down with Kevin Garnett for another podcast when he expressed his thoughts on MVP contender Jayson Tatum. Pierce, like everyone, was very impressed with Tatum in the 2022-23 season. Shaquille O?Neal shared the clipping where Pierce rated Tatum above than Kevin Durant in playoffs.

?I said this. And I think after last year’s playoffs, he’s surpassed Kevin Durant,? said Pierce. He further added, ?As far as a better player in the NBA today. I said this last year. I’m taking Tatum over KD after last year’s playoffs. I think him going against Kevin Durant was like a passing of the torch.?

The Celtics legend was talking about the 2021-22 playoffs between the Brooklyn Nets and the Celtics. The Green jerseys wiped the floor with the Nets with a 4-0 win. And with Sunday night?s win and the performances of Tatum, it?s looking like a solid argument.

Many wouldn?t agree with the simple fact that there is a huge age gap between the players. While Durant is 34, Tatum has a long career ahead, being 10 years younger than him. Added to that, KD hasn?t lost an ounce of form in the entire season, being the star player of the Nets.?

Moreover, Tatum and the two-time NBA Champion wouldn?t care about this debate when they both are very close.
