The NBA was a different league in the 80s and the 90s. It was certainly way different than it is right now. For instance, the game was more physical during that era, whereas it is more technical now. Not that it wasn’t before, but with the advancement in data-driven sports, the analysis of the game is different. It is more detailed now. Social media is also a large part of the NBA now. And Shaquille O’Neal is one of those guys who has seen this transition. 

There was a lack of social media back then. So much so that it actually wasn’t there. Moreover, there are many unheard things that the NBA stars of that time, share years after. There have been many stories of that time and many have been considered myths. However, Shaq once cleared out a few of the myths about himself.

Most recently though, he made a shocking confirmation of an embarrassing myth about someone in the 80s and the 90s in the NBA.

Shaquille O’Neal gets real about ‘Dr. Budreaux’

Shaquille O’Neal shared the story of a certain someone called Dr. Budreaux on the most recent episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq. In the presence of Dennis Scott and Nischelle Turner, Shaq revealed some shocking things. He started laughing even before he could complete it because of the story itself.

Shaq said, “Dr Budreaux would show up at all the All-Star games. And he would put gorgeous girls downstairs, and they be waiting in the lobby. So the guys would see him, the girls would be friendly. Get to the room somehow. The girls would put something in the drink that would knock you out. Now when you got knocked out, Dr Budreaux will come in. In your room right, and he gets you b*** naked and he take a picture with you in compromising positions.” 

As soon as Shaq narrated the story, he broke into laughter as the others also could not control themselves. While laughing, he continued to share that on the Monday after the All-Star Game weekend, the players would get a shocking message.

He shared that at practice, someone would come and hand them [the player trapped] a letter. Shaq then said that the message would read, “80 thousand, Wednesday, delivery here. Or these pictures would go…” Shaq once again broke into laughter and said that it was a true story. 

The episode, ‘The Big Professor’, featured one of the first teammates and friends Shaq made when he first started playing in the NBA. Not only that, Dennis Scott is one of Shaq’s most trusted guys. And among other amazing conversations between great friends, he was there to back up the crazy story of Dr Budreaux.
