Amongst a heap of criticism that has enveloped his Los Angeles Lakers teammate Russell Westbrook, LeBron James had a two-word message after his recent game. However, it doesn’t necessarily align with Westbrook’s performance nor change perceptions among fans toward the nine-time All-Star.

‘King James’ said that Westbrook’s off-the-bench role “catapulted” the team. This was after the Lakers’ 111-102 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.
LeBron James said that Westbrook was “great” throughout the game.?Though his words spoke differently, his body language spoke volumes. It was evident that LeBron James was commenting on Westbrook’s performance with a straight face, with an arguably borderline disappointed look.

Fans are wondering if LeBron James cares about winning anymore. With their fifth consecutive loss, Lakers fans are embarrassed and have written off Russell Westbrook. They were curious about why James was not taking any decisions regarding Westbrook’s future in the team.

Even after the loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, owing to an erroneous decision by Westbrook, and an upset James, he didn’t drag his teammate. He had made it clear during a recent media interaction that he would not publicly criticize Westbrook. James said he was aware that the media constantly waited for some salacious commentary to be made. He said once again that he would do no such thing to his teammate.

To a small extent, James was perhaps right, as Friday saw an improved version of Westbrook, scoring a total of 18 points. His average points per game were 10.3 earlier this week.?Russell Westbrook was later seen laughing at a reporter’s question about his contribution to the game. He was shrugging off any difficult question posed to him.

Westbrook was a resilient player back in the day. But talking about his past achievements arguably does no good for Lakers fans at the moment. Furthermore,?Westbrook has been considered by many as a scapegoat for the Lakers’ problems since he joined the purple and gold franchise.
