The 2008 NBA Finals was one of the hottest series in NBA history. Kobe Bryant finally got the Los Angeles Lakers back to the Finals and the Boston Celtics made the Finals after 19 years and ended up victorious. But things weren’t all great with the Celtics after that as one former player destroyed his former coach.

Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis was the starting center for the Boston Celtics in the 2008 season and he was an integral part of their championship run. That Celtics team was coached by legendary coach Doc Rivers.

Doc and Davis had a good relationship at the Celtics, but things turned sour when the two reunited at the Los Angeles Clippers.

Davis, who beat Kobe Bryant in the Finals, says Doc destroyed his career

Davis left the Celtics after the 2010 Finals after he was traded to the Orlando Magic. He spent three years of his career there and he had career years with the Magic. After reaching a contract buyout with the Magic, Davis later signed with the Clippers where Doc was the head coach.

Davis called this move “The worst mistake he ever made.”?He said he thought he and Doc and a good relationship and had hoped it continued the same way. He added, ” I felt comfortable like he knew, who I was. But he didn’t, he knew a part of me. Orlando made me a different person because I got money now. In the NBA, when you make money and you get paid you’re money, you’re considered something. You know, so I was different.”

He said that he was able to help lead a team and contribute in a meaningful way. So when he came to the Clippers he was changed. He added,” I came as like as the new Glen Davis. He seen me as the old Glen Davis. And it just didn’t work with the Clippers. He didn’t f**k with me.”

Davis said Doc, and he just did not get along and that is why his move with the Clippers failed. Rivers and Davis also got into it at one point and the duo had to be separated in a game. And from that point on, the relationship just wasn’t the same anymore.
