Back in 2015, LeBron James did something out of the ordinary. King James contributed to his community in a way few had ever had by announcing the ‘I Promise campaign’. Through this campaign as many as 2,300 kids will be sent to college through the LeBron James Family Foundation, as long as they graduate with at least a 3.0. This wholesome move from James won hearts of millions of people around the world. While the common people were pretty happy about it, the initiative has also inspired legends like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. During a recent interview on The Daily Show, Abdul-Jabbar disclosed how he has been inspired by James’ contributions.

While talking about James’ recent takeover of his record as the highest scoring player in the NBA, the Los Angeles Lakers legend appreciated James’ contribution in providing college fund opportunities for school kids. In appreciation of James, Abdul-Jabbar said, “There’s a whole lot he could be doing with that tuition money. He could be on his own island.” The icon went on to say that James preferred to contribute to his community instead, sending an entire school district to college. And that is where James’s heart is.
