The Hall of Fame truly cements one’s legacy among the upper echelons of the sport. The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced the list of five eligible candidates for the class of 2023. The frontrunners were Dwyane Wade, Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, and Gregg Popovich. ESPN’s ‘NBA Today’ released the list of nominees.
For some, certain names stood out, while for others, the candidates made perfect sense. However, the inclusion of the 3x NBA champion?Dwayne Wade has seemingly been questioned by some NBA fans. One fan wrote, “He belongs there, but it’s too soon“.

Dwyane Wade’s induction to the Basketball Hall of Fame
Wade is a first-time nominee for this honor. He also became eligible this year as it marks his fourth year since retiring from professional basketball. Dwyane Wade had 13x All-Star game selections to his name, along with his prolific career with the Miami Heat.

Even though he has had an illustrious and long career, fans questioned whether he could have been inducted later. Some fans also believed that certain players were snubbed from the list.

Dwyane Wade was drafted by the Heat in 2003 and still leads the Heat in all key metrics. Wade has been known to be one of the top shooting guards in NBA history with impressive shots, assists, and steals. His career average is 22.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.4 assists.

Miami Heat players and the Hall of Fame
Other players that have a history with the Miami Heat who got enshrined in the Hall of Fame were Chris Bosh, Tim Haraway, Shaquille O’Neal, Pat Riley, Alonzo Mourning, Bob McAdoo, and Ray Allen. According to the media reports, Wade will become the 8th Hall of Famer who has had ties with the Miami Heat.
