There has been a lot of talk about who is the future face of the NBA. LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant have been the icons of the league for the last decade or more. Over the last few years, young superstars like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, and Jayson Tatum have emerged to take over the mantle. However, NBA legend Shaquille O?Neal believes there is one player who will supplant Curry and LeBron, and it is not any of these stars.

Antetokounmpo, Jokic, Doncic, and Tatum have all emerged as young superstars in the last few years. Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic have shared the last four MVP awards and Doncic and Jayson Tatum have emerged as some of the best players in the world. At the same time, last year, we saw another budding star emerge with humongous potential.
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant?had a phenomenal year in the 2021-2022 season. He won the Most Improved Player award and made his first All-Star and first-team All-NBA appearance. And he has taken his game to new heights this season. He has improved so much that Shaquille O?Neal has anointed him to take over as the face of the NBA in a few years.

Shaq was covering?the Memphis Grizzlies and?New Orleans Pelicans?game for?‘NBA on TNT’. And Morant was having a phenomenal game. At the half, he had 24 points on 8-12 shooting and Shaq was raving about the superstar. Shaq said he loves the way Morant plays, and he is the modern-day Allen Iverson. He added that he loves the way Morant is always in attack mode and his ability to do it all.
He added, ” I say with a tremendous amount of respect, course we talk about the best players in the game, it always gonna be LeBron and KD. But in 2-3 years, it’s gonna be him up there by himself.”

Charles Barkley seemed to disagree as he suggested Giannis Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic. But Shaq doubled down and said, ” No. Not at all, he ain’t scared of no Luka.”

Shaq seems to be confident in his take. Ja Morant is only 23 years old, and he is arguably already playing like an MVP candidate.
