The 90s and early 2000s NBA witnessed prolific stars like Michael JordanKobe Bryant, and Shaquille O’Neal dominating the hardwood. Even though the league produced many players during this period, the sporting world’s attention on the stars overshadowed their performances. After the advent of social media, fans and current stars call out the uncrowned legends from the yesteryears. Contrarily, a Chicago Bulls legend wrote a heartfelt message demanding respect for his service on the court via Twitter. Moreover, the legend dragged the 13x NBA Champion coach Phil Jackson into his note.

The Bulls legend Ron Harper won five championship rings in six years, playing alongside the greats. Harper represented the Bulls during their second three peat 1995-98 and two championships with Kobe Shaq’s Los Angeles Lakers. Even after achieving an impressive feat, the legend seemed upset regarding the amount of respect he received. He recently took to Twitter with a message demanding respect. Moreover, this isn’t the first that Harper sent out a controversial tweet regarding the Bulls.

A former teammate of Michael Jordan demands respect

Ron Harper shared a tweet regarding his role in the Bulls’ camp and Phil Jackson’s expectations of him. He wrote, “I love scoring the ball and was good but in order too win I accept my role and won 5 in 6 years the ultimate goal…” Notably, Harper averaged only 13.8 points in 1009 games considering the position he played.

He further wrote, “ Phil jackson saw me as a point and a defense of player that could do it all… you better look at my cavs and clippers days!!!!! RESPECT”.

He further directed his fans to inspect his stats during his stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers.

He averaged only 7.9 during his five seasons with the Bulls, proving that his position played a huge role in his scoring record. Harper played four seasons with the Cavaliers between 1986-90, averaging 19.4 points, and five seasons with the Clippers between 1989- 94, averaging 19.3 points.

When most of the NBA fans rode along the famous docuseries’ The Last Dance’, Ron Harper refrained from talking about it despite being part of the Bulls’ second three-peat. Responding to a fan’s tweet on MJ and Scottie Pippen, he said, “No my drama or my lane…” Moreover, the legend decided to keep his personal stories to himself.
