Despite maintaining that he intends to remain in Portland, Lillard has constantly been in rumors – whether it be with the Miami Heat or the Los Angeles Lakers. After another off-season where trade scenarios for the 7-time All-Star were the talk of the town, Dame took to social media to speak on his mindset.
Lillard tweeted, “Survived too many storms to be bothered by Raindrops.”
The enigmatic message quickly went viral and ignited speculation among fans.

Dame’s determination and commitment to greatness are unquestionable. With 11 seasons under his belt, Damian Lillard is a composed veteran. A cold-blooded killer who knows his worth despite the noise surrounding him. His tweet seemed to very much echo that sentiment, as he displayed his mature and seasoned outlook.
A former NBA champion and Defensive Player of the Year praised the Portland star’s game recently. But he also hinted that a trade might be best for the All-NBA point guard.
Minnesota and Boston legend, KG, on Lillard’s Career
Amidst the rumors and uncertainty, Kevin Garnett, a Celtics legend known for his fierce competitiveness, recently voiced his admiration for Lillard. In a preview clip for an upcoming episode of his Showtime podcast, Garnett praised Lillard’s talent and suggested that it might be better suited elsewhere. He said he wants Damian to team up with other greats, explaining, “Imagine what Dame could be like around another player of his caliber“.
KG offered his perspective for Dame on teaming up with other great players.

Of course, Lillard deserves to be on a team that could contend for an NBA championship. But Dame has been an avid opponent of the superteam model. With some experience in that regard, Garnett said, “I’ve done this work, I made this house I built it, it’s time to leave this house and go build another one somewhere.”
KG’s endorsement carries weight. He obviously understands the aspirations of a superstar player like Lillard, where the only thing missing from his fabled career is a ring.
