In his time with the Chicago Bulls, the 6-time NBA champion averaged over 30 points. He won multiple MVP awards, and is a 14-time All-star. ‘Cheap’ Michael Jordan shares his views on contributing to charities

For a long time now, ‘MJ’ has been trying to do his part in eradicating inequalities. The lesser known fact is that many years ago, former player Charles Barkley accused Jordan of being ‘cheap’, claiming that he refused to give money to homeless people.

On the contrary, over the past two years, Jordan has pledged over $100 million to various charities. He has strongly upheld his morals, and believes in giving back to the society. Having such a high brand value, it is only obvious that the legend makes the right use of it. In a recent interview with Today, Michael Jordan spoke about his charity work.

Upon being asked what drives him towards putting in large sums of money into charities, Jordan said, “Actions speak louder than words.” He has surely walked the talk, paving the path for other celebrities to contribute to the ones less fortunate. “I can say a lot of different things, but my actions have been that I wanna make a difference,” claimed ‘His Airness’. Mainly for social causes and building of community health centers, the superstar pays out of his own pocket and through his Jordan brand.
