WNBA star Brittney Griner recently faced a difficult verdict as her appeal hearing was denied by a Russian regional court on October 25. BG is stuck in Russia for over eight months since she was first detained at the Moscow Airport in February. The customs authorities found vape cartridges filled with cannabis oil in Griner’s luggage. She was sentenced to nine years in prison under drug possession and smuggling charges. Recently, the two-time Emmy winner legal insider Amy Dash has condemned a ‘public smoking’ protest for Brittney Griner. The DC Marijuana Justice group will organize a protest outside the Russian embassy in Washington.

The marijuana event will feature a ‘smoke out’ session planned by cannabis activists to protest against Brittney Griner‘s incarceration in Russia. Moreover, the co-founder of the DC Marijuana Justice Adam Eidinger released a statement recently. He despised the thought of a US citizen stuck in a Russian prison over the use of cannabis.

Eidinger said, “Just as it’s unacceptable for Americans to sit behind bars for simple possession of cannabis, it’s absolutely unacceptable for an American sitting in a Russian Gulag.” In addition, he reckoned that Russia and President Vladimir Putin were using Brittney Griner as a pawn in their war against Ukraine.

The two-time Emmy winner felt that the marijuana activist groups might not be the kind of people Griner would want protesting at the Russian Embassy.

Further, Brittney Griner faced a disappointing verdict when her appeal was denied recently. Griner will be sent to a Russian penal colony in a few weeks. Thus, there is very little hope of the Phoenix Mercury center’s return anytime soon.
