According to two former Houston Rockets stars, there was one player who forced ?His Airness? to rest up before games, so that Jordan would have all the energy required during his matchup with him.
And that player was Rockets legend and two-time NBA champion Vernon Maxwell. Former Rockets players Mario Elie and Calvin Murphy sat down for a post-game report after the Rockets lost to the Memphis Grizzlies for their 11th straight loss.

Both, Mario Elie and Calvin Murphy revealed that it was Vernon Maxwell who may have managed to scare Michael Jordan. Calvin Murphy said, ?Michael Jordan told me that the only guy to make him take naps before games is Vernon Maxwell.?

To that, Mario Elie said, ?Vernon Maxwell is not scared of no human being, I can tell you that right now.? Although this does not come off as a surprise as Jordan had once revealed that the only player he is scared of was Rockets legend, Hakeem Olajuwon.
The Rockets made the most of Jordan’s retirement

It was the Houston Rockets who managed to make the most of Michael Jordan?s first retirement. The Rockets managed to win back-to-back titles in 1994 and 1995. And the team was comprised of all the Rockets legends mentioned above, apart from Calvin Murphy.
As for Vernon Maxwell, he was the team?s defensive specialist. Even though Hakeem had the paint locked down, Maxwell was great at perimeter defense. Not only that, but he had the ability to play all 48 minutes without breaking a sweat.
