However, the former Celtics star later clarified the actual reason for his departure from ESPN. Meanwhile, NBA fans on Twitter have erupted in his comment section once again after the 45-year-old posted a hilarious tweet quite recently.

Pierce had an outstanding 19-season-long NBA career averaging 19.7 points in 1,343 games. The legend had represented four franchises in his career, notably the Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers. Following his retirement, he began his career as an NBA analyst with ESPN. Eventually, he lost his job after a controversy in 2021.

The tweet read, “I’m single what’s up.” Moments before the tweet, he shared another tweet that said, “Come party with me.” The two tweets were enough to remind fans online of the Hall of Famer ’s infamous Instagram live.

The 10x NBA All-Star had clarified the reason behind his exit from ESPN several months after the incident in an interview. Interestingly, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James had an indirect influence on his exit.

Pierce dragged LeBron James in his ESPN controversy

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Pierce revealed the actual reason behind the controversy. He said, “I was done with them, anyway, It wasn’t a great fit. There’s a lot of stuff over there that you can’t say. And you have to talk about LeBron all the time.” Further talking about the Instagram live, he concluded, “What happened has nothing to do with what I did on the court.”
