The Los Angeles Lakers finally saw the face of victory after defeating the Detroit Pistons with a score of 121-116. Naturally, the assumption always is that it was LeBron James who led the team towards the win. However, their superstar met with an unexpected fate in just the second game that he has played after missing out on eight others because of an abdominal plane. And fans were clearly not happy at all.

LeBron James gets ejected for the second time in his entire career

The rivalry between the Lakers and Pistons goes way back ever since they had their face-off twice in the NBA finals of the late 1980s. However, all hell broke loose during their 2021-22 NBA campaign matchup. Just a few minutes into the third quarter and the Lakers were trailing-75. Pistons‘ Jerami Grant had just attempted a free-throw and Bron and Isaiah Stewart stood in the paint to grab the rebound in case a miss.

In that chaos, James swung his arm so hard that it landed on Stewart’s eye. The hit came so hard that the Pistons’ forward eye started to bleed. The Lakers superstar looked apologetic and approached Isiah, but he had already taken great offense. After which, everything hit the ceiling. An altercation broke out between the two, which took a while to settle down.

Finally, the tussle ended with LeBron James receiving the second ejection of his career. The first was back in 2017,

And because Isaiah was in no mood to calm down either, he was also given an ejection because of his two technical fouls in the game already. However, here’s what fans had to say about Bron’s ejection from the game.

Even before being benched, Bron wasn’t having the best night. He finished the game with a mere 10 points under his name. After the Pistons’ big second quarter in which they outscored the purple and gold 42-31, it seemed like another game was slipping from their hands.

Jerami Grant had managed to pull off a whopping 36-point performance. However, the Lakers had Anthony Davis, whose consistency is the only thing keeping them afloat so far. His 30 points and 10 rebounds, along with Russell Westbrook’s 26 points, helped them come out out of their 17 point deficit to seal the victory.

Sadly, this win is hardly any consolation for the situation that they are in. With their record at 9-9 and Bron’s ejection, they still have a lot to overcome to at least find a place in the playoff berth.
