The Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has donned many hats over the years. He retired from the game after winning 6 NBA championships. Now he is more known for putting forward his opinion and understanding on matters of social interest. In fact, Abdul-Jabbar runs a blog where he addresses issues that concern the social and political atmosphere. In his most recent blog, the Lakers legend addressed Twitter CEO Elon Musk’s ongoing controversy.
Abdul-Jabbar has slammed several celebrities and political figures over the past few months. Cap likes to call it how he sees it and this time with Musk, he is blunt with his opinion on the ongoing fiasco at Twitter. He even described Musk’s behavior as, “So much chest thumping, so little brain using.”

The 19x NBA All-Star called out Elon Musk over his hypocrisy and his failure at delivering what he promised. Abdul-Jabbar talked about the sad reality after Musk promised free speech before taking over Twitter. He said that there is no conflict between a man standing for free speech and corrupt media outlets.
Abdul-Jabbar said, “That’s how he romanticizes it and himself,” while fooling people into believing in his causes. He also said that Musk is, “a savvy business man who’s good at making money but crap at critical thinking.” Abdul-Jabbar highlighted that Musk can become a big problem for society.

He said that Musk possesses, “a giant megaphone to amplify his bad thinking,” and it is easy for him to mislead others with that tool. This comes after the recent fiasco at Twitter regarding the blue tick verification. Twitter has started unrolling the blue ticks from accounts that were verified before, owing to the new plan by their CEO of charging money from people for the verification badges.

This idea was criticized by several celebrities including LeBron James who refused to pay any money and rapper Ice-T. Musk’s recent outburst at The New York Times declaring that they will not pay money for the verification badge put the Twitter CEO on Abdul-Jabbar’s radar. The 6x NBA champion countered Musk’s agenda with facts and statistics, a style of critique that he is well known for.
Abdul-Jabbar said that Musk has an agenda against the LGBTQ+ community as words like “trans” or “transgender” is shadow banned on the platform. He criticized Musk for tagging the National Public Radio under the “state-affiliated” category despite the NPR receiving only 1% of funding from the government. When he was called out for propagating misinformation, Musk said, “Well, then we should fix it.” Abdul-Jabbar also highlighted that Twitter banned over 120 accounts from India for criticizing the Indian government.
