The NBA Finals are only a day away and the Golden State Warriors are all geared up. Appearing in their 6th finals in eight seasons, the Bay is not new to the big stage. However, last time around, they were bombarded with injuries against the Toronto Raptors.

Notably, Klay Thompson picked up an injury and took a long time to make his comeback to the NBA. After waiting for two long seasons, he is back with a chance at redemption. But this time he has an added source of motivation as he goes up against the Boston Celtics, the biggest rivals of his childhood team the Los Angeles Lakers.

Thompson has been an integral piece since making his comeback with the Warriors. After suffering two major injuries, the GSW really missed his services. They failed to make the postseason in each of the seasons that he missed.

However, now the Splash Brothers are back and so are the Warriors. Back into the NBA Finals, the Warriors have their sights on a fourth ring with the original trio in place. But for Klay, this final may mean much more.

According to Keith Smith, Klay grew up as a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers. And now he gets to take on their arch-nemesis, the Boston Celtics in the Finals.

Klay Thompson all ready to fire for the Warriors

Looking back at the days of his childhood, Thompson grew up in a household of Lakers fans. His father, Mychal Thomspon played for the purple and gold and even won two championships in the showtime era. Hence, it is no surprise to see him fired up with the opportunity to play the Boston Celtics in the finals this season.

Notably, he even said that his welcome to the NBA moment was going up against Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen during his rookie season. Speaking about facing his boyhood organization’s arch-rivals, Thompson said: “Twenty years later, I get to play the team I was rooting against.”

Clearly, the Warriors sharpshooter hasn’t lost his golden heart as he still holds a place for the Lakers. Likewise, Klay has come up huge in the big moments this season. And there is nothing bigger than the NBA Finals. Coming off a stellar 32-point performance in Game 5 against the Dallas Mavericks, Thompson’s confidence is riding high.

Moreover, taking on the Celtics will only add fuel to his fire. Averaging nearly 20 points per game behind Stephen Curry, the Splash Brothers will be ready to wreak havoc yet again.
