NBA superstar Kevin Durant might not be a fan favorite. Over the course of his career, he has said some things that did not sit well with the fans. While most celebrities refrain from interacting with trolls or negative comments on social media, KD doesn’t mind interacting now and then. Funnily, he has also revealed he has burner accounts on social media. Also, he has called himself “God” on social media. But he is still one of the best players in the league who could turn the fortunes of any team around.

The Brooklyn Nets did not have a good season last time out. In the first round of playoffs, the Boston Celtics comfortably swept them. However, the Celtics were one of the best teams in the league and eventually reached the finals. After the loss, there were huge doubts about the future of the superstars, Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons in Brooklyn.

The whole off-season was filled with rumors about the Nets. Irving was linked to a reunion with LeBron James for the Los Angeles Lakers. There were suggestions Durant is tired of Irving and head coach Steve Nash. There were reports that even claimed he gave an ultimatum to the Nets’ owner.
Kevin Durant plays down the “Best in the World” tag
Despite all the trade rumors, it looks like Kevin Durant is staying with the Nets. Recently, KD joined the show Let’s Go! with NFL legends Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald, and Jim Gray. During the podcast, Gary compared Durant with some of the best players in the world like LeBron James and Stephen Curry. Gary then asked, “When you are trying to be your best self and that happens to be the best in the world. How does that hit you?”

Durant replied, “I don’t look at it that way. I feel like I’m mastering my craft. I wanna be the best version of myself. So every time I step on the court, I wanna be able to do everything on the basketball court. If the ‘Best Player in the World’ comes with that, that’s cool. I’m chasing something totally different every day I wake up to go to the gym.”

The former MVP had a disappointing season last year with them. However, he was at his individual best averaging 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game. In the first round, playing against one of the best defensive teams in the league, he averaged 26.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game.

This season, Durant will be ready to prove his doubters wrong again. And with the help of his star teammates like Irving and Simmons, he could take the Nets to make a deep run in the playoffs.
