As a result, the currently $500,000 worth Bulls legend had to declare bankruptcy at one point in time After the end of his NBA career in 2000, Rodman used his popularity and sports celebrity status to earn money by making appearances on TV shows and events. During one such appearance, Rodman slammed the promoters for taking ‘advantage’ of his affectionate nature.

According to a 2013 Sports Illustrated report, Rodman made an appearance at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando to sign autographs for fans who paid up to $199 dollars to be a part of the Spooky Empire’s May-Hem event. During an interview at the convention, Rodman expressed his dissatisfaction about how the promoters benefitted from his love for the fans.

Rodman stated,?“I hate these kinds of shows. The promoters take advantage of me being alive, being famous or infamous. I’d rather not be here, but it’s hard to turn down my fans. I’ll tell you one thing: I sure ain’t here for the f***ing money. Give me 20 bucks, and I’m ready to rock and roll.”

Rodman shared that he showed up at such shows just for the fans who paid a great deal of money to see him. Moreover, while the seven-time rebounding champ charged around $20,000 to $40,000 for a Stateside event appearance, he charged less for his services at the zombie apocalypse event to promote his book, ‘Dennis the Wild Bull’.?
