There’s no doubt that Shaquille O’Neal is a certified NBA giant. An absolute powerhouse on the court, his physicality was enough to overpower anyone in the game. For the longest time however, it was believed that the legendary Lakers center stood at over 7 feet tall. On the contrary, Shaq himself has now stated that all the statisticians and record books have gotten it wrong. So is Shaquille O’Neal really not 7 feet tall?

50-year-old Shaquille O’Neal was once the Lakers‘ most priced possession. Having been bought for a record sum, he justified his price tag and created history for the franchise, along with the likes of Kobe Bryant.
However, for years now the NBA’s official website has read ‘Shaquille O’Neal: 7’1″, 325 lbs.’ Shockingly enough, this isn’t the case. While asked about his height being compared to that of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s, the 15-time All-Star made a startling revelation.

Shaquille O’Neal reveals that he is shorter than people think
On most occasions when someone has referred to Shaq, they have termed him as the 7-foot giant. Meanwhile, Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has a recorded height of 6’11”. Even then, the 27-year-old claimed on social media that he is taller than O’Neal.
Naturally, ‘The Big Aristotle’ was asked about the same, on The Big Podcast With Shaq. To this, Shaq made an unheard revelation to the world.
Questioned about Giannis’ statement regarding him being taller than Shaq, the 4-time NBA champion replied, “He’s pretty up there.” He continued, “First of all, I’m not 7’1″. I’m 6’11”. I just played like I was 7’1″. And 7 foot 1 just sounded, you know, just so, you know.”

In that case, the Greek freak may not be taller than Shaq, but he certainly is just as tall. At least if we’re choosing to believe Shaq.
