Jayson Tatum couldn’t help but laugh uncomfortably after facing a much more fatal opponent than the Golden State Warriors. A dad joke. Tatum was interviewed by comedian Guillermo from Jimmy Kimmel Live before Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
Guillermo had a typical dad joke for him, something straight out of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s playbook. Tatum looked hesitant after hearing the cliched joke. But he decided to force a laugh to not appear rude.

The Boston Celtics are playing the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals. The first two games took place at Chase Center in California. Meanwhile, popular comedian Guillermo from Jimmy Kimmel Live showed up at the stadium on media day to interview some players.
After interviewing a bunch of Warriors and Celtics players, including Steph Curry, Marcus Smart and Draymond Green, Guillermo turned to the rising superstar Jayson Tatum for his ‘NBA Exclusivo‘. He greeted Tatum with a dad joke that the Celtics star wasn’t prepared for.
“Why did the basketball leave dinner early?”, Guillermo asked. “He had to box out?”, Tatum tried his best to answer. But Guillermo wouldn’t have it.
“He had to bounce.” Guillermo proudly announced the correct answer and started laughing at his own joke. Tatum followed suit to avoid any embarrassment live on the air.
The joke very much resembled Giannis’ dad jokes. The Greek Freak has mastered the art of entertaining fans and the media with his unfunny and cliched jokes. In fact, Giannis‘ jokes before press conferences and on Instagram lives have gone viral on the internet many times.

People may not like the 2021 NBA champion’s jokes in and of themselves. But they definitely love Giannis telling them. It shows how grounded Antetokounmpo is despite fame, success and money. It also reveals how dedicated he is to entertaining fans and members of the media.
