Stephen Curry has a serious golf obsession. The Golden State Warriors? point guard trains meticulously to perfect his golf swing all year round. He engages himself in television-oriented golf tournaments. In fact, this Thursday, the 4x NBA champion will be seen playing golf at the 8th iteration of Capital One?s The Match.?

Curry has invested himself in golf so much that his passion is palpable. This begs the question, ?Could Curry go pro in golf?? To this, a former Masters? tournament winner scoffs, and dismisses the question by calling it ?silly.?

An expert golfer demotes Stephen Curry?s golfing skills

Trevor John Immelman, who knows the grind better than anyone, jumps into the Curry-golf debate and ends it for once and all. Immelman, a former professional golfer, rose to rank 12 in the Official World Golf ranking list in 2006. Two years later, Immelman won the 72nd Master tournament. He has won 11 professional tournaments, which include 2 PGA wins and 4 European tour wins.

In The Loop podcast, Immelman gives his expert opinion on the question of Curry playing golf professionally. Trevor makes a stern remark, ?It gets discounted way too much how unbelievably good PGA Tour golfers are?.

Stephen Curry is good, but not good enough!

Just hours before Curry?s appearance on The Match, Immelman belittles his golfing skills. On Thursday, the NBA duo: Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are to face the NFL duo: Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce on the golf course. The eighth iteration of The Match is going to feature these extremely talented athletes, whose core sport is not golf. It will be a treat to see these pro athletes try their hands at golf.?

As the fans gush over Stephen Curry?s golfing skills, Immelman cautions them. He bluntly states that Curry participating at the PGA Tour would be like ?someone thinking they could play in the NFL because they were a backup running back in high school.? The point Immelman tried to make here was that PGA tournaments are extremely competitive and require high-caliber golfing skills.

While Curry is not cut out to play professional golf, his passion for the game needs to be admired. Even Immelman thinks that Curry is a ?solid recreational player? who would definitely stand out at The Match. However, he is still miles away from playing golf professionally.?
