He was much more than just a basketball player and he showed it with everything he did. Kobe’s impact as a person can be understood by the different people inspired by him from different walks of life. At the time of his death in 2020, the world mourned his loss and condolences poured in from athletes across different sports and from people all over the world. The Mamba Mentality that he represented was a testament to the way he led his life.
This was his specialty, which made him a stand-out personality in a crowd. NBA broadcaster Mike Breen recently told an interesting Kobe story, detailing how the late legend was an exception for Breen. The 62-year-old was recently on the LeBatard Show where he talked about the 18x NBA All-Star. Breen said that he is not big on collecting memorabilia and is not one to fanboy over anyone. However, Kobe became an exception for him when the NBA printed everyone’s nicknames on their jersey.

Due to his gray hair, Breen got the jersey from ESPN with Gray Mamba printed on it.

Breen, who is admittedly not one to ask for autographs, thought that this jersey must have a Kobe Bryant signature on it. So he went to The Black Mamba for an autograph and Kobe happily obliged. “From one Mamba to another,” he signed the jersey. Breen also revealed that when his house caught fire, most of the things were destroyed. However, he added that he is working really hard to ensure that the special Kobe memorabilia is restored.
