The Boston Celtics have clinched their spot in the playoffs with the second-best record in the East. The Celtics have a 53-24 season record, putting them two games behind the number one-seeded Milwaukee Bucks. However, in the last game, the Celtics seemed like they came to make a statement as they annihilated the top-seed Milwaukee Bucks. It was a dream game for Celtics star Jayson Tatum as he surpassed a franchise legend with his performance.
Only a day after a strong performance against the Indiana Pacers, the Milwaukee Bucks fell majorly short in front of Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics. The team lost by a margin of 41 points with a final score of 140-99. If this was a preview of a potential Playoff matchup, it didn’t look good for the Bucks.

This may be the most humiliating loss the Bucks have suffered all season. All the usual scorers seemed to be having an off night. Or the credit could go to the Celtics’ defense for keeping them under their usual point average.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday, all struggled to score consistently. Whereas, on the other hand, Celtics star Jayson Tatum scored 40 points for the game on 12-18 shooting, going 8-10 from the three-point line.
If Tatum?s performance wasn?t impressive enough, the fact that he surpassed a Celtics legend may be. With this 40-point game, Jayson Tatum surpassed Paul Pierce for the second position in the most 40-point games in Celtics history.

The number one spot is firmly held by three-time NBA champion, Larry Bird. He has 47 games with a 40-point or more performance under his belt.
This was the second time that Jayson Tatum got the best of Paul Pierce within a month. The first time was on Kevin Garnett?s podcast along with his teammates.
JT and Jaylen Brown got the best of Paul Pierce
Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart joined Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce on the podcast, ?KG Certified.? That is when Jaylen Brown may have mocked Paul Pierce alongside Jayson Tatum. Brown brought up the wheelchair game where Pierce had to be carried away from the court against the Los Angeles Lakers.

To that, Pierce said, ?I sprained my MCL. It was my MCL. Don?t believe all them rumors.? Garnett jumped in and asked Pierce what the rumors were. As much as Pierce tried to avoid it, he had to explain it to KG.?

And Pierce may have done the job for Tatum and Brown himself when he said, ?Everybody talking about I had to take a sh*t. Get the f**k outta here.??Although Pierce is a franchise legend, Brown wasn’t letting him off the hook easily. This left them in fits of laughter.
But back to the topic at hand. If Tatum has already surpassed Pierce for the most 40-points game list, the Celtics’ future sure is in great hands.
