The women’s championship game between the LSU Tigers and Iowa Hawkeyes stirred up some controversy in the NBA world. After leaving an impact by mirroring Stephen Curry and John Cena in the finals, Angel Reese of LSU received a lot of backup from NBA stars. In addition to the support, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green weighed in on the situation to back up the LSU star.?
The 2017 DPOY has yet again used his podcast to call out the double standards in the above situation. Moreover, Green mentioned a similar incident from the NBA Finals last year to justify Angel Reese’s actions during the National Championship game.

After winning her first NCAA title, Angel Reese went on to use Curry’s ring celebration to boast her victory over Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Moreover, Reese went on to take revenge by using the ‘you can’t see me’ gesture which Clark had previously used in the same tournament. However, Reese was the only one who ended up facing the heat.?
Draymond Green has been in several situations like these, and it’s no wonder how competitive the defensive forward is. Sharing his take on the drama, Green mentioned,?“Everyone makes it look like she [Angel Reese] just went and committed a crime. This is basketball. You had an opportunity to beat me and stop me and you didn’t.”
Green added,?“These girls go out there and win a national championship and all we want to talk about is a celebration that happened towards the end of the game. The issue that I have is let’s not have these double standards.”?
Green went on to share an incident from the NBA finals last year. The Warriors forward added,?“I remember very very very clearly, Al Horford in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, where they made a comeback and he flexed right in my face. Nobody said a word…by the way he is flexing in Game 1 that didn’t end so well”

Though it could be perceived as disrespectful, Green believes it is a part of the game. Every player and any player can do it, however, what matters most to the Warriors star is winning. Moreover, he also believes the fans should start focusing on the performance of the young stars rather than worrying about the celebrations that they did after the win.
Green himself is known as an outspoken person who doesn’t hold back on anyone. He often makes sure that the opponents and fans know who won. He has been involved in various spats over the years and he brings that edge to the team. Coming from a four-time NBA champion, Reece will be happy to find more support.
