Well, it looks like the NBA has decided to steal some notes from the NCAA. March Madness is a sensation for Americans. Considering the prolonged success of the NCAA, the NBA has decided to use a similar plan to upgrade the All-Star game. What are the changes??
The NBA changed the All-Star game format from Western Conference vs Eastern Conference to a mini-draft in 2017. Though it has been just a few years since this change, looks like it has already lost its value. Now, the NBA is planning to bring out the Final Four format which is currently being used in the NCAA.?
This could increase the opportunities for the players and at the same time can also maintain the viewer’s intrigue. The elimination or knockout format could push the All-Stars to play more intensely, which is exactly what the fans are expecting. However, this is not the only major change.?
Adam Silver is also planning to increase the audience count in the arena for the Saturday night festivities. The Gainbridge Fieldhouse stadium in Indiana has a capacity of around 17,000. Nonetheless, the NBA wants to move it to the $720 million Lucas Oil Stadium as per a report by FrontOffice Sports.

The football field has a capacity of twice that of the Pacers‘ Fieldhouse stadium. With nearly 35,000 seats, the league is desperate to increase the live audience as well. The Lucas Oil Stadium has hosted the NCAA’s ‘Final Four’ a few times previously.
Considering the success in viewership and revenue collection of the NCAA, the NBA has decided to make a move for the upcoming All-Star weekend. Moreover, being a multi-purpose stadium, the NBA might as well bring more upgrades for the weekend. Maybe a good concert!
