Enes Kanter Freedom is a well-known human rights activist. He has been very vocal about how the NBA deals with such situations and has often criticized both Commissioner Adam Silver and LeBron James. He recently condemned LeBron’s comments on Brittney Griner.
In the trailer for the latest episode of ‘The Shop’, LeBron James comments on whether Griner would even want to return to the USA following her detainment in Russia in February over alleged drug charges. After facing backlash, James tried to clear it up by tweeting his intentions.
My comments on “The Shop” regarding Brittney Griner wasn’t knocking our beautiful country. I was simply saying how she’s probably feeling emotionally along with so many other emotions, thoughts, etc inside that cage she’s been in for over 100+ days! Long story short #BringHerHome

However, Freedom wasn’t buying it and decided to have a go at The King. He told James, “You call it a step back, we call this a walk back. You are free to leave buddy or you can even volunteer for an exchange for her”. He continued, “Some people literally have NO idea what is it like to live in a dictatorship Keep taking your freedom for granted.”

Freedom has previously criticized the Los Angeles Lakers forward for not speaking against the human rights violations in China. He also accused Adam Silver of blackballing him from the league and pushing him to retire.
Griner is facing up to 10 years in prison if found guilty. Many NBA and WNBA players have been vocal about bringing Griner back to the USA.
Enes Kanter Freedom has always been at odds with LeBron James
Freedom and James have been going at each other since the latter’s second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Their on-court battles and jabs during interviews are well documented.

It’s safe to say that the two of them aren’t exactly fond of each other. It is unlikely we’ll get to witness another matchup between the two of them as Freedom’s NBA career seems to be over.
