The Los Angeles Lakers, led by LeBron James, are seemingly going through a rough phase. It has been more than a week since the NBA season 2022-23 has started and the Lakers are yet to win a game. The team has played three games and lost each with a significant difference in the scores. What tipped the NBA world was probably the Lakers? game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The team’s defeat came as a shock and caused fans to ask the franchise to trade Lakers player Russell Westbrook.

Joining the bandwagon is former NBA player, Jay Williams who gave a rather bizarre solution. The NBA analyst appeared on SiriusXM NBA Radio on October 25 and talked about the Lakers’ recent on-court performances. Williams recalled that back in 2019, when Anthony Davis joined the Lakers, every article had commended the franchise for getting the best trade in the history of the Lakers. That could very well put AD in the same category as NBA legends Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, and Pau Gasol. Back then, Williams thought that AD would be the one to lead the franchise after LeBron James. However, it has been quite some time that AD’s name had been a part of the MVP conversation.

Williams said, “So I’m looking at this whole organization saying I’m sorry, if you’re talking about maintaining the franchise’s success, if we really wanna be cold-hearted about this, everybody should be on the table. If you’re gonna be realistic about it.?What can I get for LeBron James?”

He further added, “What can I get for Anthony Davis? What can I get for Russell Westbrook? We’re thinking about the future…

Several years ago, this would have seemed like a ridiculous idea. However, the Lakers’ 0-3 record suggests differently and so does the team’s game against the Trail Blazers.

LeBron James’ Lakers vs Damian Lillard’s Trail Blazers

The Los Angeles Lakers faced the Portland Trail Blazers on October 23, 2022. The game took place on Sunday night at the Crypto.com Arena. Fans probably gathered to watch the Lakers grab their first victory after losing in two consecutive games. However, the night turned out to be a disappointment for the Lakers fans as the team lost their third game of the season.

LeBron James averaged 31 points, eight assists, and eight rebounds. Whereas, Anthony Davis only managed to score 22 points with three assists and ten rebounds. On the other hand, Blazers’ Damian Lillard alone scored 41 points, two assists and five rebounds. However, the Lakers were leading the game by 102-101 before Russell Westbrook decided to make a jump shot in the last 30 seconds of the game. His failed attempt ultimately resulted in the Blazers’ victory by 106-104. Ever since then, NBA fans have been asking the franchise to trade the 9 x NBA All-Star to a different team.
