Former NBA champion Eddy Curry recently discussed his first divorce during an interview. He shared many aspects of his life, including his first marriage, which ended with a divorce shortly after. As a teenager in high school, he married Korie Kellogg in 2001, a marriage that made headlines at the time. 

As of now, the former couple shares a son named Eddy Curry III. In the same year that they married, the couple filed for divorce due to some differences. According to Eddy, this marriage led to a heavy and long controversy, which he discussed in the interview. 

His girlfriend became pregnant with his son when he was in his senior year of high school. Curry said they immediately went to the courthouse to get married. He mentioned that his parents weren’t aware of their marriage together.

As he described the situation, he also stated that it was one of the worst things that had ever happened to him. The reason for the couple’s divorce remains a mystery as none of them have said anything about what led them to take separate paths in the same year. 

Eddy Curry went on to sign a $14 million NBA contract

Furthermore, the former NBA Champion, who was once partnered with LeBron James at the Miami Heat, talked about how his wife “faked pregnancy” just to extract more money from him. In addition to signing a $14 million contract with the NBA at the time of the divorce, it was during the height of his basketball career.

However, the divorce resulted in him experiencing the most difficult time in his life. Curry said: “I remember telling my agent because I always kept it a secret because I was really embarrassed of it because I felt like such an idiot that I let her do that to me.”

In addition, he mentioned that she was his best friend at the time, but their personalities did not match so they clashed. As part of their conversation, he also discussed how her delaying increased the value of the “marital property” that she would be entitled to in the divorce. 

He said he lost a great deal of money and this issue affected his personal and professional life. Curry added the divorce ultimately took two years to resolve.
