Kobe Bryant, the former Lakers superstar, is considered to be one of the greatest basketball players in NBA history. Not only that but he is also considered as one of the most influential figures in the history of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise. He won five championships with the team during his 20-year career.

Additionally, Bryant is on the list of players who have played for the team and made history to their name. Some might disagree with that, however. Jason Williams made a statement about Kobe not being among the top five greatest Lakers players of all time earlier this month. Following that, the fans got into him in a huge amount and started trolling him on social media.

His statement read, Kobe’s not as high on my list as people would really think he should be,” Williams stated. “I’m not even sure he’s on the top five of the all-time greatest Lakers.”

As a result, he said that he does agree that Kobe is one of the greatest players in Laker’s history. In clarifying his statement that there are more players that he would include in the top five. Mentioning names like Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, and LeBron James in front of Kobe Bryant.

Due to this, he also clarified what he really meant in an interview in light of the controversy surrounding his statement.

Fans from across the world trolled him for his statement. He then posted a picture of himself with Kobe and mentioned the controversy created by his statement, in addition to acknowledging that Kobe is the Lakers’ GOAT. As he wrote on his social media:

“Really the only difference between my opinion and y’all opinion is that I just happened to play against some of these dudes we talking about and that’s it!! And I’ll do ya one better… The people I’ve named are way above my talent level!!!! Legends!! GOATs!”

It didn’t end there, as, in an interview, he again justified his position on Kobe. He said“Kobe Bryant is the greatest Laker of all time, but that doesn’t mean that he’s the greatest basketball player that ever played for the Lakers.”

There were five better basketball players that played for the Lakers at one time,” he added.

There seemed to be no end in sight to this controversy. Kobe is considered to be the greatest player in Lakers’ history by fans. However, not everyone will agree with this statement. We’d like to hear your opinion.
