With the NBA regular season rapidly progressing, teams are becoming more concerned about the upcoming playoffs. While teams at the top of the table will get a direct entry, certain teams have to participate in the play-in tournament. The Charlotte Hornets, currently placed ninth in the Eastern Conference, will certainly look for a boost.

According to reports, the boost Hornets might be looking for could be veteran Isaiah Thomas.

Charlotte Hornets to sign Isaiah Thomas to a ten-day contract

As per Adrain Wojnarowski, Thomas will sign a ten-day contract with the Hornets.

Fans reacted to the news accordingly, and some even referred to it as a ‘prove it‘ deal. Certain fans believed that are better-suited players out there, who will be able to make an impact on the team. However, at the end of the day, a ten-day contract might or might not turn into something more specific.

Other users believed Thomas was probably most deserving of a place in the team. Additionally, a veteran’s guidance could help them during the playoffs as the team has been on the losing end, and could use some extra help.

Of course, Thomas’ G-League performance should have factored in. The 33-year-old played with the Grand Rapids Gold, posting 41.3 points in three games with the team. Two of these games were 45-plus in points.

That being said, this contract comes after two preceding 10-day deals with the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers.

What other teams has Thomas played for?

Starting his journey with the Sacramento Kings in 2011, Thomas’ most memorable run was with the Boston Celtics. He led the team to the 2017 Eastern Conference Finals, while also making two NBA All-Star appearances. Unfortunately, injuries ended up affecting his pace as well as his advancing career.

Since the Celtics, Thomas has also played with the Washington Wizards, Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Pelicans.

Despite the support Thomas has received, the Hornets’ decision cannot be predicted. The team, though in need of some support, could seek another option.
