Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has come under huge scrutiny after his violent altercation with young star Jordan Poole. Both of them played a vital role in the Warriors’ title run last year. However, because of Poole’s offensive displays, he took center stage alongside superstars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. The fans loved the way Poole played the game effortlessly over the course of the season. Many felt he had the potential to emulate Curry’s success and replace him in the future following his retirement.

However, his contract was up for extension and it was important that the Warriors tie him down. Similarly, Green’s contract was up for extension as well. While Poole’s value is on the rise, the same can’t be said about Green. As per reports, this played a part in the altercation. Warriors general manager Bob Myers made a statement saying that disciplinary actions would be undertaken internally. However, Green might not be suspended for any regular season games.

However, this has sparked some arguments in social media with people referring to similar incidents that has happened in the past. One such incident involves former NBA champion, Bobby Portis.

Bobby Portis gets dragged into the whole Draymond Green and Jordan Poole situation

In 2017, Bobby Portis had an altercation with Chicago Bulls teammate Nikola Mirotic who suffered a concussion and facial fractures. The Bulls suspended Portis for 8 regular season games. But Mirotic missed 23 regular season games because of the injury. ESPN’s Bobby Marks referred to the Portis incident and suggested the league might not involve in altercations between teammates during practices. And they usually allow the organization to take care of it.

However, Portis chose not to be silent about it. The 2021 NBA champion clarified he was only trying to defend himself. He replied via Twitter, “I got 8 games for simply defending myself Bobby. I think it?s a lot different. IMO”

Recently, the video of Draymond Green punching Poole during practice was leaked. And it was definitely not self-defense. It does not look good on the veteran star, and it does not help his cause. Even though the Warriors GM Myers initially stated Green might not miss any games due to suspension, the Warriors might think twice after seeing the video. As per reports, the Warriors’ view of the situation has been altered since the video leaked.
