The NBA has seen many rivalries throughout its history, but few have been as intense and bitter as the one between Isiah Thomas and Michael Jordan. Their feud dates back to the late 1980s when the Detroit Pistons and the Chicago Bulls faced off in several playoff series. Thomas and his teammates were known for their physical and aggressive style of play, which often led to several on-court and even off-court altercations. Recently, after Isiah Thomas demanded a public apology from his longtime rival for some comments His Airness made publicly, an ex-NBA player has provided a harsh reality check on the matter.
The initial rivalry between MJ and Thomas started?during the 1991 Eastern Conference Finals. As the final seconds ticked off the clock in Game 4, Thomas and several other Pistons players walked off the court without shaking hands with their opponents, a violation of a long-standing NBA tradition. Jordan and the Bulls were visibly upset by the snub, and many believe that it fueled Jordan’s decision to snub the Pistons legend from the 1992 Dream Team.

In recent years, the feud between Thomas and Jordan has resurfaced, thanks to the popular documentary series ‘The Last Dance,’ which chronicles Jordan’s final season with the Bulls in 1997-98. During a recent appearance on the Showtime basketball podcast, Thomas addressed his long-standing rivalry with Jordan and expressed his frustration with Jordan’s past comments about him. According to Thomas, Jordan must apologize for calling him an ‘a**hole’ on national television and saying that he hates him.
Former NBA player Stephen Jackson recently chimed in on the matter on the ?I am Athlete’ podcast, stating that he believes Thomas is being “foolish” about the whole situation. He believes that Jordan did not mean his comments about Thomas in a personal way and that their rivalry was strictly about basketball.
“For me you know I love Zeke, but I say I say it’s… foolish because I don’t think Mike said it with that intent as far as I hate you as a human being,” Jackson said.
“I know for a fact that Mike don’t hate him personally. I don’t think he owes him a public apology. I just think that everything has been blown out of proportion because anytime Mike says something, everybody’s gonna twist it and make it their own narrative,” he added.

Stephen Jackson believes that the misunderstanding must be resolved
Jackson also believes that Thomas and Jordan need to have a conversation to clear the air and resolve any misunderstandings that may exist between them. “There’s a lot of misunderstanding, a lot of things that stuff that’s been said that ain’t been said from them two. I think they need to have a conversation. Hell yeah, they need to have a conversation,” he said.?
