NBA star and Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook seems to have entered the digital media sector. Following in the footsteps of LeBron James and Naomi Osaka, Westbrook launched his new digital media division, RW Digital. This adds a new division to his impressive line of business ventures.

Interestingly, Westbrook has grown his business in multiple fields, including venture capital, fashion, and now digital advertising. The principal goal of this business is the betterment of the community and Russ has expanded on his vision of empowerment. He is partnering with Casual IQ, the pioneer in finding solutions using data-driven means.

Westbrook follows in LeBron James and Naomi Osaka’s footsteps

This is not the first time an athlete has ventured into the media side. LeBron James, along with his childhood friend Maverick Carter, launched The Spring Hill company in 2020. The company was already into production a few years prior to that, but they combined three different ventures into one.

This is one of LeBron’s most prestigious investments as multiple investors put money into the company last year. In fact, in the last round of fundraising, the company came in at an evaluation of $725 million.

Spring Hill combines all three sections of Spring Hill Entertainment, Uninterrupted, and the Robot Company. Uninterrupted gave athletes a platform to speak while the Robot Company is a marketing agency.

And that’s not it. Notably, they have even helped Naomi Osaka launch her own media company as well. Osaka, James, and Carter will be the executive producers of the venture’s first project. And the venture is named Hana Kuma. SpringHill will provide production and resources to Hana Kuma, which is acting as a model for athletes as creators.

This has become a popular source of investment in recent years, as many celebrities have launched media ventures over the years. And now even Russell Westbrook seems to have gotten in on the act as well.
