Flourishing at home once again, the Golden State Warriors took care of business in Game 3. However, this victory was special. Why you ask? Just days before their tough battle against a young and hungry Sacramento Kings, they would receive upsetting news. Draymond Green had been issued a suspension for his stomp on Domantas Sabonis in Game 2. The four-time champion had been relatively quiet about the incident. That was until his most recent podcast episode.

During the latest installment, Green spoke about the ‘crushing’ feeling of not being able to compete in the vital Game 3 war.

The former DPOY’s suspension ignited a major debate. Was it fair? Does a flagrant 2 deserve a suspension? Many questions came up and were left unanswered until Joe Dumars, the NBA executive vice president said, “…the act itself, and repeat offenses,” is what landed Green on the bench for Game 3.

During his recent podcast, he addressed the reasons and could only remember an incident from 2016 when he committed an offense of a similar magnitude. Not only that, but he also shared his thoughts on the fan side of it. “I never knew you could be suspended for a flagrant 2 that happened seven years ago. And I also didn’t know you get suspended for interacting with a crowd that’s flipping you double birds and yelling your name and chants that ‘You such’,” said Green.

But the controversial decision didn’t bother Green. It was his helplessness in being able to assist his ‘brothers’ on the court. Watching from afar as his teammates strive and push their way to victory. He admitted that to be the ‘worst’ feeling out of any from the suspension.

“My fellas was in a dogfight, well are in a dogfight, and just not being able to participate in that dogfight, that’s crushing. Because you just feel like you are leaving them out there by themselves, leaving them astray to just figure it out. So,?to not participate in that dogfight, that’s what bothers me the most,” said Draymond Green, adding, “Just not being able to participate in a dogfight with my brothers, that part is the worst.”

While he was proud of his teammates for winning the battle, the four-time champion admitted he couldn’t fully enjoy the game. Now, however, a rejuvenated and recharged Draymond Green will take the floor in Game 4 against the Kings. His commanding presence and synergy with veteran stars on the team make the Warriors the group the NBA has come to fear. And the feeling of being banished in the prior contest might just set Green ablaze.

Over his long run in the NBA, Draymond Green has been suspended only four times. The number might seem to be less, but some of them cost his franchise big. The most popular one has to be his suspension from Game 5 of the 2016 NBA finals. Up 3-1, the Warriors were one step away from closing the series, lifting a second straight championship.

However, after his flagrant 1 on LeBron James in Game 4, the former DPOY wasn’t even allowed in the arena. As you know, it led to the Cleveland Cavaliers winning the game, and with that, taking the momentum.
