Shaquille O’Neal‘s 17-year-old daughter is yet to decide on where she wants to go to college. Averaging 5.3 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds, Me’arah O’Neal has an impeccable high school rating already. This has led a few top universities making an offer to the 6’4 tall star. Previously, the young sensation teased her arrival to the reigning NCAA champions, the LSU Tigers, which could have put her on the same path as WNBA superstar Brittney Griner. However, considering the latest update, there might be a sudden change in plans.

Thanks to Me’arah O’Neal, Santa Monica High School became a famous name around the country. After a sudden growth spurt in the middle of her teen years, O’Neal decided to take full advantage of it. Now standing as a 6’4 giant, O’Neal is a center just like her dad. 

In 24 games for Santa Monica in her freshman year, Me’arah had a winning record of 19-5. However, her ability to dunk and shoot at just 17 years of age stands as her most impressive skill. Moreover, with a 6’4, 154 lbs physique, O’Neal has received attention from a few of the best universities.

One of which is the Arizona State Sun Devils. The future WNBA prospect tweeted, “Blessed to receive an offer from Arizona State University…Thank You”. She uploaded the same post on her Instagram stories as well.

That is indeed a huge honor for the 17-year-old. Various programs fighting for her signature is certainly a sign of her talent. However, if she decides to choose Arizona State University, she might not follow Brittney Griner’s path. 

What is the Brittney Griner path Me’arah O’Neal could deny?

Well, Griner did not play for the LSU Tigers. However, she did play for 61-year-old Kim Mulkey who is now the coach for the LSU Tigers’ women’s team. Mulkey was previously the coach for Baylor University, where 2012 NCAA champion Griner was a sensation.
