Shaquille O?Neal has never been known for mincing his words to appease other people. The Los Angeles Lakers legend has always believed in saying his truth regardless of how it affects others. The Big man was raised by a Drill Sergeant and was never taught to beat around the bush. However, recently, Shaq’s determination to say it how it is on the topic of single mothers prompted an ugly spat with a female reporter friend.

Colorado coach Deion Sanders recently gave a very bold statement that stirred up a controversy in the media across the nation. Shaq’s reaction to the issue also caused a rift in the Big Podcast between the Big Diesel and Entertainment Tonight reporter Nischelle Turner.

In an appearance on The Rich Eisen show, Sanders revealed his wild recruitment policy that would differ from most coaches. Apparently, the two-time Super Bowl champion looks for Quarterbacks who are ?smart? and from two-parent households before recruiting. On the other hand, for D-linemen, he wants kids from “single mother households” who have seen a lot of hardships in their lives.?

When questioned about it on The Big podcast, Shaq replied, ?Ain?t nothing wrong with that”. The answer took Nischelle by surprise, and she demanded that the Big Aristotle “state” his case. Shaq confidently explained why he thought there was nothing wrong with Sanders’ statement.

You know why I have discipline? Why I don’t get in trouble? Why I don’t do dumb sh*t? Daddy would have whooped my a**,” said the Big Man. He further added, “...He was saying for the QuarterBack, you need to have two parents because they listen…then the ones that don’t have the daddy they’re harder to raise.

Furthermore, Shaq went on to explain how kids who’ve faced hardships in life are a little different and gritty, a quality that is needed in defensive linemen. Turner wasn’t having any of it. She went on to sarcastically ask the Lakers legend if her status as a child from a single mother household would make her ineligible for the QB position. Shaq responded with a swift “maybe”, which further aggravated Turner.

Needless to say, Shaq was sticking with defending the NFL coach’s opinion while Turner decided to ask for former NFL star, Anthony Adams’ opinion on the matter. Adams mentioned how although it was not a great way to express himself, one cannot question how Sanders runs his team.
