Shaquille O’Neal is one of the most famous NBA stars around the world. Known to be open and warm towards the general public, the friendly giant is quite the philanthropist. Helping those in need is Shaq’s second habit and despite his charitable history, he is quick to dismiss the label. The friendly giant recently sat down on Grammy winner Monica’s podcast and dropped some bombshells.

Although he remains coy on his acts of altruism the ones who witness it are usually not as discreet. This American starlet had something to say about Shaq’s swashbuckling display of wealth.

The star remembered being at ‘Rooms to Go‘ when she learned that everybody was talking about the 7 ft giant. The center had recently graced the store with his presence and that was all that people could talk about.

Elaborating on the incident, the talk show host stated. “I was shopping for a family for Christmas, and you had been in there and the entire building was still talking about you.

Employees of the store were not impressed by what Monica had gotten for the family. Comparing her purchase to Shaq’s, one cashier felt entitled to tell the star about the big man’s purchase.

To which she snapped back at him stating “Listen, I don’t make what Shaq makes, we are getting these bunk beds over here.

Shaquille O’Neal would rather be nice, not philanthropic

While Shaq’s show of wealth may see him be viewed as a philanthropist, he wasn’t keen on being called one by Monica.

Sharing a quote from his mother the Lakers legend simply stated. “It’s not Philanthropic to me. Dr. Lucile O’Neal said it costs you nothing to be nice, make sure you take care of people, make them smile.”

Always abiding by his mother’s wishes Shaq has continued to live by this statement. Reminiscent of his past and aware that he cannot take his wealth for granted the friendly giant continues to help mothers in need, stating. “If I am in there, I am going to make it straight, seven grand ain’t nothing to me.
