Dennis Rodman became an icon for his antics both on and off the court. Playing for the Chicago Bulls, ‘The Last Dance’ shed light on his life beyond the basketball floor. A man who loved partying and living an eccentric way, Rodman’s story outside the NBA is also Hall of Fame worthy. However, out of all his shocking stories, the most mind-bending arguably remains to be his visit to North Korea. But there was a fellow Los Angeles Lakers teammate who also got the call out to join Rodman.

In 2013, the Worm was far away from the sport of basketball. And Rodman got the opportunity that would make the loudest noise. Going with the Harlem Globetrotters, the two-time Defensive Player of The Year traveled to North Korea. And there he met the supreme leader, Kim Jong-un. Surprisingly, the pair hit it off away.

However, Rodman wasn’t the only player who got the offer to travel to North Korea. Los Angeles Lakers legend Robert Horry was on the list as well. But nothing could make the former Houston Rockets star agree to the endeavor.

Horry would not join his Lakers teammate for anything

Rodman shot back into the news when he made shocking claims of traveling to Russia to free?WNBA star Brittney Griner. Likewise, his former Lakers teammate, Robert Horry spoke about the Worm’s unlikely relationships. However, the seven-time champion also revealed he was offered an opportunity to join Rodman to go to North Korea. But for him, no money would persuade the Lakers legend to make the trip.

Horry said: “When he took that team over there, to play, remember that? They came to me and said, ‘You want to go play?’. I’m like, ‘F**k no’. They were giving guys like $200,000 to go play. I was like, ‘Hell no! You can say a million and I wouldn’t f*****g go.”

Rodman’s time on the Los Angeles Lakers consisted of just 23 games in the purple and gold jersey. However, his time wasn’t memorable. NBA Hall of Famer, Shaquille O’Neal even called the two-time Defensive Player of The Year his worst teammate ever. Rodman also shot back criticizing both the headliners, Kobe Bryant and Shaq. But his relationship with Kim Jong-un was the polar opposite.

Despite the controversy behind his trip, Rodman reportedly became friends with the North Korean leader. Notably, Kim Jong-un is a big basketball fan, and the Chicago Bulls?allegedly hold a special place in his heart. Likewise, Rodman got the best treatment while over there. While speaking to Mike Tyson, the Worm even said they went out for karaoke.

Since the initial trip, Rodman has declared himself as an unofficial US diplomat. As for his bond with North Korea, 2013 wasn’t the last time he made a trip. According to reports, the Chicago Bulls legend made several visits, the last coming in 2018. The Worm has undoubtedly not lost his touch to shock the world every now and then.
