NBA legend Michael Jordan was one of the best players ever. However, he was not the best teammate or leader. Over the years, many incidents about Jordan’s treatment of his teammates have come to light. Even The Last Dance docuseries shed some light on some of the major incidents between the five-time NBA MVP and his teammates. However, in his long and illustrious career, spanning over 15 years, there were some other incidents as well.
The Jordan Rules book by Sam Smith chronicles the iconic Chicago Bulls team from the early 90s through its ups and downs. Smith talks about many rifts between the players, the management, and the coaches in the book. In one instance, the author reported an incident where the anger of multiple players, including Jordan, hampered the team’s chemistry performance.

The incident happened after a 99-86 loss against the Los Angeles Lakers. Scottie Pippen was in fine form that game, but he did not receive the ball enough in the second half. So he was upset. On the other hand, Jordan was annoyed about other players missing good looks. The Chicago Bulls then traveled to Sacramento to play against the Kings. The Bulls took an early lead, but the Kings cut it to 4. The Bulls won the game, but Jordan was not happy and the team was not at its best. Furthermore, there were issues with the management as well, which made him angry. Assistant coach Johnny Bach said, “The team needs your energy. You’ve got to be happy. You’re sending the wrong message.”
However, MJ stated that he can’t be happy at that moment. Furthermore, things were boiling down with Cliff Levingston. The Bulls acquired the power forward from the Atlanta Hawks. But Phil Jackson was not happy about his performances and did not play him a lot. This angered Levingston, who vented his emotion on the bench during the Kings’ game. When a teammate whispered Jackson could hear his rant, he replied, “Who cares? He’s not playing me. F**k him. Let him kick me out of here.”

According to the author, Jackson was not happy with Levingston’s poor shot selection and turnovers when passing to the wing. The 9th overall pick did not last long with the Bulls. After winning two titles with the Bulls, he left the league and played overseas basketball.
