Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets took on the Atlanta Hawks at the State Farm Arena on Monday. Durant had a historic night as he set his career-high in points. But that wasn’t enough as the Hawks came away with the victory courtesy of Trae Young.
This was a crucial match for the Nets as they battled for the play-in spots. With this defeat, the Nets fall to the 10th seed while the Hawks climbed up to the spot. Durant put up 55 points on 67% shooting but with Kyrie Irving being the only player in double digits, that wasn’t enough for the Nets. With the playoffs fast approaching and the Nets having traded away James Harden for Ben Simmons, the pressure is on them. The Nets are not in danger of missing the play-in tournament. But they will have a tough road when the play-in starts.

The Nets lose to the Hawks in one of the most crucial games of the season
The Nets took on the Hawks in a highly important matchup. This game was one of the most important games of the season for both teams. But it was the Hawks who came away with the victory. After trailing by as much as 10 in the first quarter, the Hawks regained the lead midway through the second quarter and never looked back. They built a 15 point lead at one point.

Durant had a field day as he was draining shot after shot. He was at his best as he went 8-10 from three-point land. But other than him, no other player had a good game. Kyrie ended up with 31 points but he took 32 shots to get there. Other than these two, no other player scored in the double digits. The Nets will now need a miracle to finish higher, as they do not hold their fate in their own hands anymore.
